Tuition, Scholarships and Financial Aid

St. Francis DeSales High School recognizes the value of a Catholic Education and makes every effort to assist our families in meeting tuition needs. Families are encouraged to investigate the financial opportunities listed below. Each year, over $400,000 is allocated in grants and scholarships to St. Francis DeSales High School Students.
 


Tuition rates

Tuition rates for the 2011-2012 school year are as follows:

If you are a participating member of a Catholic Parish in the Diocese of Columbus:


Single child rate: $7,525.00
Second child rate: $6,925.00
Third child rate: $0.00

If you are NOT a participating member of a Catholic Parish in the Diocese of Columbus:  

Single chld rate: $8,025.00                                                                                                Second child rate: $7,425.00                                                                                                 Third child rate: $0.00         

The 2011-2012 Student Life fee is $390.00.                                         

Tuition rates for the 2012-2013 school year will be set by February 2012. 

 

 

Financial aid and tuition assistance are available in three forms:
  1. Scholarships and Merit Awards
  2. Need based financial aid is available from the Diocese of Columbus, St. Francis DeSales High School and from other Catholic sources.
  3. Tuition payment plans via FACTS Tuition Management

1. Class of 2016 - First Year Scholarships and Principal's Merit Awards 

Students who have submitted an admissions application to attend St. Francis DeSales may apply for any of the scholarships listed below.  Scholarship applications are due on January 14, 2012.

Sam Carfagna Memorial Scholarships (2 scholarships awarded) - $500

Grandparents Scholarships (2 scholarships awarded) - $250

Alumni Association Scholarship (2 scholarships awarded) - $500

Academic Merit Scholarships for the Class of 2016 are awarded based on student performance on the St. Francis DeSales Entrance Exam given on January 12, 2012.  The Entrance Exam is a standardized test focusing on Math and English skills, which is designed to recognize a student's potential to be successful in a college preparatory program. Students receiving the top eight scores on the entrance exam will be recognized as Principal's Scholars and will receive a $3,000 renewable scholarship to St. Francis DeSales High School.

 

2. Financial Aid Opportunities

Diocesan Grants
Funds are available through the Legacy of Learning Fund from the Catholic Diocese for Catholic and non-Catholic students.  Determinations are based on financial need and circumstances. Families are notified of grant awards in May. The grants are credited to tuition accounts over a six month period, December through May. Anyone withdrawing from the school prior to December will not receive any grant monies. Those withdrawing after December will be credited grant monies on a pro-rate basis. Application for these grants must be made online at www.factstuitionaid.com and submitted electronically by March 15, 2012. 

St. Francis DeSales Grant-in-Aid Program
Anyone who has completed a Diocesan Grant Application (see above) may apply for a St. Francis DeSales Grant by submitting the SFD financial aid application to Finance Director, Tom Etgen, by March 15, 2012.

Student Summer Work
A limited number of freshmen, sophomore and junior students who are available to work from 7:30 AM to
3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, for a minimum of two weeks, may earn tuition credit for each week worked. Selection will be based upon the demonstrated financial need of the applicants.

Sibling Discounts
Discounts are offered to families who have more than one child currently enrolled in St. Francis DeSales High School.

Other Catholic Sources
Many Catholic parishes, and related organizations, sponsor and offer various types of programs, financial aid, grants and scholarships for students who continue their education at one of the five Catholic High Schools in Franklin County.  Please see your local parish administrative office for what may be available in your parish.

 

3. Tuition Payment Plans
Your Tuition Agreement Form and Student Life Fee for the 2012-2013 school year are due by April 30, 2012.
In lieu of your full payment in advance, arrangements can be made via our third party tuition payment partner (FACTS) to pay your tuition in semi-annual, quarterly, or monthly installments by ACH withdrawal from your bank account, or credit card. This FACTS agreement form must be submitted to the Finance Department by April 30, 2012.

Tuition Refund Policy
Any student who voluntarily withdraws after registration shall be responsible for a $1,000 administration fee and the pro-rated portion of the tuition due for the year. No refund will be made if a student withdrawals after April 1st of the school year.

Note: If a student has received a tuition grant or scholarship award, and the student withdraws before December 31st, no grant/scholarship amount will be applied to their tuition account. If the student withdraws after that date only a pro-rata amount will be applied to the tuition account, depending on the date of withdrawal.
