Girls Lacrosse
2012 Season
2012 will mark the fourth varsity season for the St. Francis DeSales girls lacrosse team. The Lady Stallions finished with a record of 5-11 last year and are looking forward to the 2012 season. This year's team has high expectations for the spring and will be lead by a large group of seniors: Sammy Chapman, Emma Hennon, Jess Johnson (2011 Team MVP), Margaret Kistner (2011 Most Valuable Defensive Player), Renee Landis, Gabby Settele, Bridget Stephas, Olivia Triacheff, Tia Tyler, and Rachel Zolnier.
This season, the team will play in the competitive Central Independent League. The CIL schedule includes rivals Bishop Hartley and Bishop Watterson as well as 2011 Division II State Champions Columbus Academy. The Stallions will play 16 games this year competing against Division I and II teams from the Columbus area. This year’s games make for a diverse and competitive schedule, giving the team the experience they need to prepare for post-season play.

An organizational meeting is held before the season begins. Most of the players also practice as a group over the summer and participate in fall and winter indoor Northstar Leagues at the Continent.

Incoming Freshman Activities
Incoming freshmen will receive information regarding summer and pre-season activities for lacrosse players upon acceptance to Saint Francis DeSales HS.
Traditionally, the incoming freshmen will have the opportunity to participate in open fields during the summer. Coaches are allowed the opportunity by the OHSAA to work with the students for ten practice days. Practices will be coordinated with other coaches in the SFD athletic department in order to avoid multiple conflicts during the summer for multi-sport athletes.
During the pre-season, athletes that are not involved in a fall or winter sport will have the opportunity to participate in a preseason weight training and conditioning program. The program is designed specifically for lacrosse players to encourage injury prevention while increasing strength, speed and flexibility. Pre-season conditioning is held two days a week starting in January and continuing until the beginning of season in February.
The Saint Francis DeSales girls lacrosse team has the opportunity to play in two different indoor leagues, NorthStars Lacrosse League at the Continent, and Lucky Lax League at Sports Ohio. The first session of both leagues begins the first week of November and ends in December. In January, the team will play in a Box Lacrosse league with NorthStars, coached by the St. Francis DeSales girls lacrosse staff.

Summer Camp
The 2012 Summer Lacrosse Camp will be held again this summer.
The camp is open to all girls that completed grades 3-8.
