Academics: Business
Students can get a taste of the business world and chart their future through the array of business courses offered at St. Francis DeSales. Students receive their own personal laptop to use in class as they study business law, personal finance, accounting or marketing. Students can earn college credit by taking either Personal Finance or Advanced Accounting. Twenty hours of financial literacy must be taken prior to graduation.
Business Law
This class enables students to better appreciate the law and the importance of it in our society.
Personal Finance
An innovative class for sophomores, juniors and seniors designed to teach the importance of making informed judgments and implementing effective decisions regarding the use and management of money. The option of college credit through Ohio Dominican University is now offered for this course.
Advanced Personal Finance
This advanced class gives further insight into the areas of managing money and successfully planning for future endeavors. Students will learn about financial goal setting, stock evaluation profiles, 1040 tax forms, estate planning and additional financial readings.
Accounting
Students will develop competence in completing the steps in the accounting cycle and will study the importance of accounting records to the overall business operation.
Advanced Accounting
Continuing to build on the competencies taught in first year Accounting, this course emphasizes how financial information is used by management. The option of college credit through Ohio Dominican University is
now offered for this course.
Marketing
This course gives students a foundation in economics and business and explore the many facets of marketing, including selling, product planning, promotion, financing, and pricing.
Advanced Marketing
This course continues to cover the foundations of marketing as students study the process of starting their own business and the process of writing a Business Plan for a new business. Students will become involved in the operation of the school Spirit Shop.
