For Parents
The parents at St. Francis DeSales are just as much a part of the family as the students. Parents have the opportunity to volunteer in many capacities at the school, both in the classroom and at the athletic field. We hope you will join us at the many great events taking place throughout the school year.
Below is some information that parents might find helpful. Please let us know if you have any questions!
Back to School Night:
This evening is held annually, usually on the second Wednesday of the school year, and gives parents a chance to meet their student's teachers. In your summer mailing or on this website you will find a form to fill out with your student's schedule. The evening begins with introductions and the principal's vision for the year, followed by the
opportunity to follow your student's schedule and visit each class.
Student Absence:
Please be sure to call the school if your student is going to be late or absent. Also please send in a note if your child has an appointment and needs to leave early. Phone calls are accepted for last minute appointments. For more information please refer to the Student Handbook.
Lost & Found in Main Office
If bringing in forgotten items to student, please ask your student to retrieve item from the main office.
New Parent Social:
This fun event takes place in the Courtyard when your incoming freshman makes new friends during the Ice-Breaker Dance. Parents can make new friends, too, while enjoying delicious hors d'oevres and the
opportunity to win great prizes!
Parent of Athletes Meeting:
At least one parent of each athlete is expected to attend this meeting, held during the first weeks of school. The meeting is usually highlighted by a keynote speaker, followed by the opportunity for parents to sign up for their required 3 volunteer activities. Parents then meet with their team's parent rep.
School Supplies:
Each student will find out specifics from their teachers on the first day of school. To plan ahead, and take advantage of the summer sales, most students need one notebook per class, pens, mechanical pencils,
looseleaf paper, 3x5 notecards, pocket folders and, possibly, a binder. Students are required to have a lock for their locker, and a second one for their gym locker, and these must be purchased from the Spirit Shop. The
required gym uniform must also be purchased from the Spirit Shop. Many students also use locker shelves and other locker accessories. Most of the Math classes require a calculator like the TI-84.
