American Sign Language
An organization for all students who are interested in learning ASL. The club focuses on the spoken language of ASL and the deaf culture.

Business Club
The business club serves as a gathering of like minded business oriented students. This club is a charter member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Activities include state and national competitions that cover a wide gamut of subject matters, business trips to Wall Street or the Chicago Board of Trade, and guest speakers at meetings.

DeSalian
A club for any student interested in writing or taking photographs for the school newspaper. Students will explore the basics of journalism while producing both a hard and online copy of the newspaper. Any student interested in writing, photography, advertising, marketing, graphic art and design, or who just “want the scoop” on SFDHS is welcome to join.

Drama Club
Open to all students, to act, sing, dance, play musical instruments, build sets, draw, work lighting, backstage running crew, make-up, costumes, tickets, publicity, and/or usher. Besides our two major productions each year, Drama Club offers a Fall Theatre Social, and many other activities!

Environmental Club
The environmental club fosters the Catholic teaching of Care for Creation. By being stewards of the Earth, we learn about and respect its resources and systems, and we are guided by our concern for the welfare of others. The club promotes recycling within the community and sponsors nature hikes and clean up projects. The club aims to raise the level of environmental consciousness in the student body.

Equus Literary Magazine
A collection of stories and poetry by SFDHS students of all grade levels. Submissions may be made to them anytime. Equus is published once a year, in the spring and can be purchased for $1.

Fishing Club
Open to all students at St. Francis DeSales High School. The club meets twice a month from October through December and again in April and May, competing in 6-7 tournaments each year.

The French Club meets monthly and conducts activities designed to encourage interest in and understanding of French-speaking cultures while promoting the school’s catholicity goals.

Gaming Club
The Anime and Gaming Club provides an area within DeSales High School where people with similar interests can meet, while also learning about new video games and ideas. Most importantly, it is a place where the group can have fun and enjoy themselves!

History Club is for any students with a keen interest in history. Club members plan events, listen to speakers, go on field trips, and hold discussions whenever interesting opportunities present themselves.

In the Know
The SFDHS In The Know Team competes against other schools in an academic quiz bowl format at both varsity and reserve levels. The season runs from mid-October to mid-February.

Italian Club
The Italian Club is open to students that enjoy the Italian culture: food, bocce, playing cards, Italian art, Italian products, music and family. Activities will include cooking demonstrations, an opera presentation at Opera Columbus in November, bocce tournaments, “Scopa” tournaments, special feast day masses at St. John the Baptist Italian Church, Abruzzi Club dinners, Italian karaoke.

Junior Classical League
The Junior Classical League is an organization of middle school and high school students sponsored by the American Classical League. It is composed of local and state chapters and is the largest Classical organization in the world today. Its purpose is to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of the language, literature, and culture of ancient Greece and Rome and to impart an understanding of the debt of our culture to that of Classical antiquity. Students joining Junior Classical League will have the opportunity to attend the Ohio Junior Classical League Convention in February.

Math Club
Math Club offers students the chance to earn bonus points for their math class through Bonus Point Quizzes. The quiz questions offer students the opportunity to practice ACT/SAT questions (Juniors/Seniors) or OGT questions (Freshmen/Sophomores). Math Club is open to all students enrolled in any math class. Math Club costs $3.00, for unlimited tests and a pizza party at the end of the year. Non-members can pay 25¢ for each individual test.

Mock Trial
Mock Trial is an activity in which students learn about the legal process and the Constitution by working with legal advisors to prepare a case. Students practice to become attorneys and witnesses and compete against students from other schools in the Ohio Mock Trial competition.

Model UN Club
Model UN Club is for students interested in world affairs and global problems. Students are assigned countries to represent and work together to explore solutions and participate in simulations of the United Nations.

National Honor Society
National Honor Society is comprised of juniors and seniors who have an accumulated GPA of 3.60 or above, have participated in a minimum of 15 hours of service, and receive the recommendation of 5 faculty members in the qualities of character and leadership. NHS members are required to complete a minimum of 65 hours of service before graduation, attend quarterly meetings, maintain a 3.60 accumulated GPA and remain in good conduct standing to receive recognition at graduation.

Nellie's Club
Nellie’s Club is a club branched off Nellie’s Catwalk for Kids charity based out of Reynoldsburg, OH. This 100% nonprofit charity was started by Janelle Krumlauf when she was only sixteen years old to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer. This is the second year for Nellie’s Club at St. Francis DeSales High School and we participate in activities and fundraisers to raise money to fund cancer research.

Peer ministry is comprised of juniors and seniors that are involved in planning Masses, prayer services, morning prayers, social justice events/causes, retreats, etc. for the St. Francis DeSales community.

St. Vincent de Paul Club
The St. Vincent de Paul Club is a service organization that was established through the efforts of the St. Vincent DePaul Adult Conference of St. James the Less. The emphasis is on service and advocacy to and for the poor, both locally and globally. This Club works especially with St. Lawrence Haven, St. Stephen’s Community Center, and Holy Rosary/St. John. Service projects are developed by the officers and members of the club. A wide scope of service projects are available to choose from.

Ski & Snowboarding Club
The SFD Ski and Snowboarding Club travels to SnowTrails in Mansfield, OH to hit the slopes every Wednesday! Beginning in January, the group of 100+ students charter by bus from DeSales, and ski until approximately 9:15 p.m. Members return back to the school by 10:45 p.m. Two packages are available for students varying between $210-$330.

¡Bienvenidos amigos! Don’t speak Spanish? No problema. All students are welcome. Spanish Club is dedicated to promoting Hispanic history and culture. Activities include: fundraisers for non-profit organizations that cater to Hispanic needs in our local community, and increasing awareness of Hispanic traditions to the students, faculty and staff of DeSales. Stallion TACK is an environment of support and activity for all students who commit to a drug and alcohol free life. Stallion TACK provides opportunities for fellowship, service, and fun in a way that upholds our Christian values and leads us to a successful experience at DeSales High School.

Student Ambassadors are students trained to be student admissions representatives. Ambassadors host prospective students during school visits, as well as plan and participate in a number of admissions events including open house and SFDHS Discovery Nights.

Student trainers assist the head athletic trainer with the care and rehabilitation of injured athletes. They work with all teams and sport seasons.

Visual Arts Club
A club for students who are interested in pursuing artistic activities outside of the classroom. This club will participate in hands-on workshops with DeSales art instructors as well as with local artists. Art club members will also be involved in artistic community service projects, provide assistance with liturgical displays, and trips to local art events.

Wrestling Stats
Wrestling stats is a fun way to spend all of your winter weekends with friends. Ladies are welcome to join this club. We keep score for the DeSales Wrestling team. You will spend weekends hanging out with other stat friends and watching interesting wrestling matches. No experience needed! We will train you on what it takes to be a stat.
We will meet every Wed. after school in room 204 unless otherwise notified. This will be short meetings to determine who will be going to what meets and any general information. All ladies are welcome to join us! Our first meet will be held at DeSales Dec. 3rd. If you are interested please stop by and join one of our meetings.

Writing Club
The DeSales Writing Club welcomes any student who loves to write. The club offers an opportunity to enhance their writing as well as share their work with fellow writers. Each meeting features a mini-workshop on a writing topic, a chance to conference with peers, and time to write.

Yoga for Fitness and Wellness
Promoting lifelong fitness and wellness, Yoga for Fitness and Wellness Club has students and faculty coming together for the practicing of postures and breath to energize, rejuvenate and restore the body and mind. Yoga is practiced every Thursday after school in the Franciscan Center.
