Academics: Physical Education

The Physical Education Department offers three distinct classes. Freshmen and Sophomores can enroll in Physical Education which covers sports and physical activities or Fitness for Life which concentrates on weightlifting and a person's overall fitness. Juniors and Seniors have the option to take Advanced Physical Education which allows them to experience a variety of physical activities and sports experiences.

Physical Education

This daily course ncludes a wide variety of individual, team, and lifetime sports and activities. Students learn the importance of physical fitness, developing sport skills, and the fun of recreational activities, as well as the importance and knowledge of the rules governing these sports.

Fitness for Life

This course concentrates on lifetime fitness skills, weightlifting, plyometrics, flexibility, and aerobic activities and provides the student with a better understanding of his/her physical capacity.

Advanced Physical Education

Geared toward the student who hopes to pursue Physical Education as a career or has an interest in related fields, this course is a combination of teacher-led and student-led activities and athletics with a strong emphasis on fitness and lifetime sports.

Yoga for Fitness and Wellness for Girls

This is a daily Physical Education course that uses the flow of yoga poses to promote flexibility, strength, balance, focus and overall wellness of the body and mind.
